Orange

I am named after the fruit that bears my bright, tangy hue. I remind people of fall, of changing leaves and jack-o-lanterns, of breakfast juice and citrus fruits.

I can evoke both positive and negative emotions in people, depending on where and how much of me they encounter.

Some can find my presence too dominating in their wardrobes. They call me "hard to work with." or "difficult to coordinate." Not a lot of people choose to wear me, but when they do, I pop against other colors. Find the right shade of me, and I can be a true star in the spotlight.

Where You Can Find Me

The most common place you'll see me is in food: fruits, vegetables, candy. It's not surprising that people don't often want to wear me—I'd make them too hungry!

I'm often found in fall and harvest seasons. Autumn holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving celebrate my natural hue, found in fallen leaves.

An unexpected connotation I can get is prison; Orange is the New Black, anyone? Construction workers also wear me. Since I'm not as glaring as my close sibling, Red, I'm not used as warning symbols, but I do sometimes mark important hazards on the road. Perhaps I'm a more muted, subtle version of the alarming personality of Red.
