Coco, Flowers, and Coffee: San Diego Lookbook

My second road trip to San Diego included stops at both old and new favorites: the Spanish Art Village in Balboa Park, and Communal Coffee.

The Spanish Art Village is a colorful little square of stores, vendors, and art galleries oozing with Spanish culture. You can see local artisans selling jewelry and handmade art in one corner, while being serenaded by street musicians in another. Walking into it is like walking straight into a scene from Coco (not the same culture, I know, but the bright-colored tiled streets and festive live music reminded me of the plaza in the movie where little Miguel performs.

Our next stop was my favorite coffee shop, maybe in all of SoCal. It's a shame I can only come whenever I'm down in SD, but it's always worth the visit when I do. So far, I've gotten the iced lavender latte twice, in honor of the shop's flower theme. Choosing the specialty drink is always a good idea—especially at a coffee shop that collaborates with a florist next door.

Inside, they sell not only flowers, but assorted merchandise from stationery to coffee-making tools in simplistic, feminine designs. If you walk deeper into the store, there's a cozy corner with a swing chair and a platform where they usually display various local art murals. All perfect for an OOTD, of course. I'm pretty Communal Coffee my favorite coffee place not necessarily for its drinks, but for its multitude of photo op spots.
